Post-lockdown, independent retailers could do well.

Coronavirus has reversed the normal rules of retailing.

While it is no surprise that online retailers have surged, Commercial Property Advisors (CPA) believes there is a pent-up demand for a return to traditional shopping centres, if only to meet and greet others, and to re-discover the variety and quality of products on offer in our shop windows.

CPA notes that certain physical stores, such as independent fruiterers and butchers, have done well during lockdown, largely due to their new home delivery services.

It is to be hoped that the re-discovered loyalty to independents continues, helping bring back variety and innovation to our high streets.

Additionally, if retailers, large or small, want to make use of lockdaon by re-examining their business rates, CPA offers a no-obligation, free consultation, on a no win no fee basis.

Rates rebates now cover a five-year period, with the recent date for revaluation put back to 2022.
