Business rates relief - who's sitting on the £1.5 bn. pot?

A £1.5 bn. pot of financial relief for firms struggling with the legacy of Covid was explicitly designed to provide speedier compensation , in a targeted manner, for business.

This has not proved to be the case, as we are still waiting for the green light to bid for relief.

Robert Jenrick, former Minister of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government stated that "local authorities will use their knowledge of local businesses and the local economy to make awards".

Like other consultancies acting on behalf of a large variety of ratepayers, Commercial Property Advisors (CPA) calls on the government, both nationally and locally, to make the promised funds available to hard-pressed businesses , as they face the double whammy of the end of furlough and the re-introduction of business rates.

Why the delay?
