Ever since the financial crisis back in 2008, the oil and gas industry has taken a severe hit leaving once thriving cities such as Aberdeen, to severely struggle, only recently have the government applied relief to the hotel industry in these areas to help with the decline, this has not been reflected in other areas and if left unchecked, could well push the bigger companies south of the border. This tied with Scotland not allowing appeals after the first six months into a business rates revaluation, leaves very little that can be done without council and government intervention.
